Finding the Perfect BMW Coupe

With a lot of car companies out there, shopping for a new vehicle is a matter of trade-offs: you might be able to get impressive performance, but it comes at the cost of great interior features. Or you’ll find something bold and luxurious but with an engine that feels more like it should be in a golf cart than a car. Fortunately, BMW doesn’t design its vehicles that way: with a BMW coupe, you can experience robust power, gorgeous interior details, and a stunning total package that you’ll look forward to driving. As your BMW dealer in McKinney, we understand how amazing these vehicles are, and we love getting the chance to talk about the BMW lineup with our customers.
The tricky part, however, can be narrowing down your options and deciding on the perfect vehicle with everything you’ve been looking for. BMW coupes are among the most powerful and sophisticated cars on the road, giving you two-door designs in an array of sizes so you can find exactly what you need. While most other companies are satisfied with having just one or two performance cars on offer, which typically have cramped interiors you can barely share with one other person, BMW’s coupes are luxurious and elegant through and through. Let’s take a look at the three coupes that BMW offers and their high-performance M variants to see which one has what you’ve been looking for.
The 2024 BMW 2 Series
The entry-level offering in BMW’s coupe lineup is the 2 Series, a compact performance car that delivers an amazing driving experience while also providing you with all of the luxury and comfort you expect from a BMW. We demand impressive power and performance from any coupe, but BMW, in particular, has a reputation to live up to—fortunately, its 2024 coupes continue the proud tradition they’re so renowned for. To start with, you have the standard 230i models, including the base 230i and the 230i xDrive, which features all-wheel drive performance and control. These models are powered by a 255 hp turbocharged I-4 engine. For more power, the M240i and M240i xDrive come with a 382 hp turbocharged I-6 instead, letting the all-wheel drive version launch from zero to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds.
Inside the 2 Series, you’ll find everything you would expect from a BMW, starting with standard sport seats adorned in perforated SensaTec or premium Vernasca leather for a gorgeous look and comfortable feel. Even though this is a two-door coupe, you’ll find seating inside for two people up front and two more behind. Of particular note is the BMW Curved Display up front, which features a 12.3-inch Digital Instrument Cluster and a 14.9-inch Central Information Display with the latest iDrive 8 software. This is easy to use, looks incredible, and illustrates BMW’s commitment to delivering amazing vehicles with remarkable power and terrific features inside and out.
The 2024 BMW M2
If you want to experience a truly elevated time on the road, however, then you should take a look at one of the BMW M models—all three coupe options have a dedicated M model with incredible power packed into it. The M2 Coupe features a performance-focused 3.0L BMW M TwinPower Turbo I-6 engine that delivers 453 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, letting it go from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, with a top speed of 177 mph at the track. This incredible engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters, keeping you in control every moment you’re behind the wheel and delivering a driving experience that’s perfect for leaving everyone else in your dust as you drive around McKinney (or taking a trip to Eagles Canyon Raceway over in Decatur).
The 2024 BMW 4 Series
For something a bit larger, the BMW 4 Series is the perfect option, with a lot to offer both inside and when you’re behind the wheel. One of the things we love about the BMW lineup is that it’s easy to understand where each model fits once you’re familiar with the naming system—higher numbers are larger options, and higher numbers within model names mean you’re looking at a more powerful engine. For example, the 4 Series is a larger coupe than the 2 Series, and you’ll find both a standard 430i and a more powerful M440i available. The 430i offers both rear-wheel drive and xDrive all-wheel drive, both powered by a 255 hp turbocharged I-4 engine.
Moving up to the M440i options—again, both rear-wheel drive and xDrive are available—provides you with a 382 hp turbocharged I-6 engine that delivers improved power and performance. With this engine, an xDrive model can go from zero to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds; by comparison, the 430i xDrive takes a full second longer to get up to speed. This boost in power is achieved in part by the addition of a mild hybrid system that uses a battery-powered motor to increase performance and acceleration.

The 2024 BMW M4
If you want to feel the kind of performance engineering that has made BMW a legend in the auto industry, then you should check out the M4 Coupe. With sculpted seats and the BMW Curved Display inside, there’s no denying you have an absolute beauty on your hands every time you get behind the wheel. And yet, it’s powered by a beastly BMW M TwinPower Turbo I-6 engine that roars to life with up to 503 hp in the M4 Competition models, letting it go from zero to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. This is a dream come true that’s perfect for making your daily commute or heading north on Route 75 to Anna, then hopping on FM455 west, through Celina all the way to Pilot Point for a nice drive.
The 2024 BMW 8 Series
For something that’s all but forgotten these days by other car companies, here we have a powerful, large two-door that delivers an incredible driving experience. This is the biggest coupe offered by BMW, and it makes for an incredible option if you want a spacious interior along with a powerful engine that provides a fun time on the road. You have a standard 840i and 840i xDrive available with a 3.0L turbocharged I-6 engine that offers 335 hp and a performance-minded M850i xDrive that features a 4.4L BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine that delivers 523 hp, which lets it go from zero to 60 mph in a mere 3.6 seconds.
This power is combined with a gorgeous exterior that includes key details like an illuminated kidney grille. Inside, you’ll find Merino leather upholstery, an instrument panel with Nappa leather finish, and other exquisite details designed to truly surround you in luxury. Standard features include a pair of 12.3-inch displays for the digital gauge cluster and infotainment screen, plus a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system for an incredible experience while driving around McKinney. And yet, there’s an even more powerful option available…
The 2024 BMW M8
Going beyond the previous two models, BMW offers the M8 Competition Coupe that delivers an unbelievable driving experience. This stunning example of precision engineering features a 4.4L TwinPower Turbo V8 engine that unleashes 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque and is paired with an eight-speed M Sport automatic transmission. Launch control and standard M xDrive elevate your acceleration to the next level, letting you go from zero to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds. Plus, the M8 Competition has a top speed of 190 mph on the track. This is performance taken to an entirely different level, and it’s sure to leave your passengers absolutely breathless.
