Values and Culture Matter

When Rick Hendrick first got into automotive retailing in 1976, he wanted to make sure he got the people part right.
“People are our greatest asset,” has been a driving force for Hendrick Automotive Group teammates since Mr. Hendrick first set foot in a Bennettsville, South Carolina dealership that first began this journey more than 45 years ago.
An important part of establishing a culture that sustains the test of time is how a company trains and adheres to a core set of values. A company measures itself against those ideals. Through building relationships, sharing best practices and being accountable to each other, teammates at Hendrick Automotive Group have built a culture unrivaled in the automotive industry.
As Hendrick Automotive Group brings its newest BMW dealership to North Texas and the McKinney community, we thought it was a great time to share.
Servant Leadership: First popularized by Robert Greenleaf in his groundbreaking 1970 essay entitled “The Servant as Leader,” the term ‘servant leadership’ has been an influential philosophy for teammates at Hendrick Automotive Group for quite some time, as it is at many successful organizations. Philosophically, a servant leader’s primary goal is to serve others, ensuring they have everything needed to be successful.
In his essay, Greenleaf relays the sentiment of placing others ahead of yourself, “The servant leader is servant first … It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. The conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead.”
At Hendrick Automotive Group, priorities lie within the support of each other, our customers, the manufacturers we represent and the communities we live and work.

Integrity: If you are committed to doing the right thing even when no one is looking, that is a person of integrity. While no one is perfect, our team members are committed to doing the right thing for others. Whether it is through extraordinary customer service, or giving back to the community, Hendrick Automotive Group strives to do what’s right in every action we take, and decision we make.
Commitment to Customer Enthusiasm: Giving customers the best service in the industry is a direct result of a culture that places a priority on people. We care and support each other and afford teammates the tools to succeed, which empowers them to offer customers the memorable experiences they truly deserve.
We are enthusiasts as well. For those who love the BMW brand in the community of McKinney, our team members at BMW of McKinney will share that passion with you. Our team members pride themselves in their knowledge and deeply care about the vehicles they sell or service. Often, they are as enthusiastic about the BMW brand as you are, participating in local club activities and community gatherings to share in that passion.
Teamwork through Trust & Respect: By respecting each other’s differences and embracing our similarities, Hendrick Automotive Group teammates commit themselves to excellence daily. Through listening to each other, stepping in when needed and learning from each other’s approach to service, trust and comradery are built within our teams.

Passion for Winning: Team Hendrick has a tradition of winning. Whether it is the 45, combined “Center of Excellence Awards” Hendrick Automotive Group BMW dealerships have already captured or Hendrick Motorsports record-shattering 14 NASCAR Cup Series championships, our teammates are committed to being the best at what they do. Our primary goal is not to be the biggest automotive retailer out there – our goal is to be the best.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement: Humbled by the opportunities, it is important we continue to appreciate what’s been afforded and continually improve upon the experiences we provide. It is why our team members focus on becoming better every day. Even if it’s a 1% improvement every day, it adds up to huge strides down the road. Most importantly, when we improve, customers benefit.
Accountability at All Levels: You do not build the best culture in the industry without holding each other accountable to our values. As each team focuses on their journey of continuous growth, it is important that we hold each other to the aforementioned values we hold dear.
