The idea of purchasing a new BMW is a dream for many. It often starts the moment they see or ride in one for the first time, and owning “The Ultimate Driving Machine” becomes a personal aspiration.

From shopping online inventory to the moment you drive off the lot for the first time, what comes with that dream is a hope the ownership experience is just as rewarding. A fulfillment you and your family cherish every time you step into the vehicle.

Team members at BMW of McKinney, which is part of Charlotte, North Carolina-based Hendrick Automotive Group, take this responsibility to heart. As a team, they have worked, learned and trained together to insure they hit the ground running on opening day. Not only are they well versed on all the information about the latest model line, they are committed to building relationships with the people they serve.

Did You Know? Hendrick Automotive Group Chairman & CEO Rick Hendrick also owns Hendrick Motorsports, the 14-time NASCAR Cup Series champions. The Concord, NC-based professional race team currently fields entries for Alex Bowman, Chase Elliott, William Byron and HendrickCars.com driver, Kyle Larson

“(Customers) are going to get a Ritz-Carlton experience,” said dealership General Manager Johnny Secondo, giving a sense of the culture he is trying to build at the new store. “A warm greeting as soon as they walk in the door. We will have plenty of beverages for clients, especially here for how warm it is. We just want a friendly, family feel. It’s something we have with all of our Hendrick dealerships.”

“There will be multiple TVs in the showroom displaying the Hendrick culture, as well as a few football games,” Secondo added. “This is a big football state, so we will have games on. We also have a beautiful area for customers to have an easy buying experience.”

The dealership opens with 60 people, including 13 master technicians with BMW and Hendrick certifications working in the 47-bay service center. Each is outfitted with the latest equipment for almost every generation of BMW.

“The shop is gorgeous, with easy access to the parts department,” Secondo said. “The service center has all the latest equipment, service bays and lifts. We have the ability to (service and) charge EV vehicles. It is stunning and we can’t wait to show our customers. When they visit, we are definitely going to show off the service center and let customers know the type of service they will be receiving.”

BMW of McKinney becomes the ninth overall BMW franchise for Hendrick Automotive Group, which now includes two in Texas joining BMW of South Austin. It is also the company’s second dealership in the McKinney area, having opened Honda Cars of McKinney in 1987.

“It’s an honor when you are awarded a BMW point, and being able to open up in one of the best markets in the United States is incredible,” Secondo said. “Especially in this North Dallas area, it couldn’t be (in) a better place to open. This whole area – McKinney – is one of the top 10 places people are relocating to. To be able to provide a BMW store and service all these customers that live in this area is exciting.

Did You Know? Hendrick Automotive Group first partnered with BMW in 1980, with the opening of what is now known as Hendrick BMW in Charlotte, NC.

“We have a vibrant team that’s super excited, which includes 12 Hendrick employees that have moved across the country for this opportunity,” Secondo added. “You have people that understand the Hendrick culture. Then on top of that, we have a lot of great local people that have been waiting for an opportunity to work with us.”

In his 14th year at Hendrick Automotive Group, Secondo is very thankful for the opportunity. He calls operating a BMW franchise one of the biggest dreams of his career. Ever since becoming the general manager at Mall of Georgia MINI (Atlanta) in 2008, Secondo worked towards an opportunity to lead a BMW operation. However, what about his other life goal?

“I had the opportunity to come to Dallas, which has been a huge dream of mine to live in Dallas,” Secondo noted. “I’m the biggest Cowboys fan you will ever meet; since I was eight years old. This store and living in Dallas, are two things I have always wanted to accomplish.”

If you live in the McKinney or North Dallas areas, stop by BMW of McKinney and experience the Hendrick Difference for yourself.

“As Mr. Hendrick says, ‘our people are our greatest asset,’” Secondo said. “We are looking to provide the best customer service. This not only is a dream opportunity for me but a lot of our teammates as well.

“We want to make sure people in the community are proud of the dealership they are servicing and buying vehicles with.”
